Synchronisation of the lights using MIDI File arrangement with additional track for DMX
(Cubase application).

Duncan Caterall on MIDI2DMX:
"I recently used the Midi2Dmx Pro and was very pleased with how it performed on the first music video we uses it for.
Surprisingly easy to program with this. I think I did the whole sequencing in an hour in Cubase, which is incredible.
Having tried a number of software options to control sequenced lighting and found them very poorly implemented in some cases with basic functions like copy and paste. I wanted to able to drive complex but accurately quantised lighting triggers from MIDI to improve accuracy. I managed to programme most of the sequencing for Mind.in.a.box in about an hour using Cubase and a usb to midi cable plugged into the Midi2Dmx box. One thing I did notice is that you need to set an automatic note off when using software, whereas synths plugged in directly did this by default (this is down to your DAW not the box). All I needed to do on my rigging day was adjust the velocity settings in order to tweak the brightness of the lighting for the exposure settings I needed and the sequencing was set. For shots where lights weren't needed I either muted these tracks or disconnected them from my dimmer packs. A fantastic bit of hardware. Really can't wait to use it on a more traditional rock video."
